Shiv Kumar Report : On the invitation of Honorable Vice Chancellor Pandit Ritesh Mishra and Pandit Rajneesh Mishra, the famous singers of the Banaras Gharana, were organized in Sushma Swaraj Auditorium of Nalanda University this evening. This captivating musical program, organized under the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations of freedom, started with the bandish of raga Multani 'Bagiya Mein Damke'. Happened from This composition was an essay in Madhya Taal then Drut Laya Teen Taal. The audience was mesmerized by the accompaniment of Kaushik Kanwar's lykari on tabla and Zakir Dholpuri's melodious sargam on harmonium. He started his program with Alapachari followed by an impressive performance of singing from the Banaras Gharana. He concluded the program with bhajan.
Students from around 32 countries studying in the university participated in this program.
Underlining the importance of this programme, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof Sunaina Singh said, “Nalanda University is committed to the all-round development of its students which includes cultural and artistic creativity. Such programs provide an opportunity to develop and refine the artistic potential among the students. This program will also help the international students of the university to connect with the Indian culture and heritage.”
The event was organized by SPIC MACAY Chapter of Nalanda University.
SPIC MAKE (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture among Youth) was established in 1977 by Padma Shri awardee Professor Kiran Seth of IIT Delhi to raise awareness about various aspects of Indian heritage and enhance educational quality by inspiring youth. with the aim of enriching it.
At the end of the program, the students expressed their gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for providing them an opportunity to get acquainted with the glorious cultural heritage of India. One of the responsibility of Nalanda University is to give integrated direction to the young generation and inspire them towards excellent leadership potential. This program of classical music will inspire students to experience the intangible, subtle and inspirational aspects embedded in the rich cultural heritage of India.
