The ICCR President appreciated the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor to develop Nalanda as a "unique university".
Khabre TV - 9334598481 - Aditya Report - Nalanda University today accorded a grand welcome to Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. On the invitation of Sunaina Singh, Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe had come to the university today. Dr. Sahasrabuddhe addressed the Nalanda community and Indian and international students.
He also visited the campus of Nalanda, in which he was briefed about the effort to make it a net-zero worthy campus. Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunaina Singh, who is also the former Vice President of ICCR, welcomed Dr. Sahasrabuddhe as a "cultural pillar" and "policy maker" who has contributed significantly to the development of the nation through ICCR. In his address, Prof. Singh highlighted India's role as a "Vishwa Guru" in a wide span of history. He defined "Indian culture" as a culture of peace, harmony and fraternity. Referring to Nalanda, he said that the university is the "campus of the future", which will be emulated by educational institutions not only in India but across the world.
In his address, Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe appreciated the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor to develop Nalanda University as a "unique university". He emphasized on global-cultural ties and the 'idea of Indianness', mentioning the role of ICCR. "India has a unique identity," he said, "and is respected around the world for its cultural harmony. He mentioned the idea of spiritual freedom, cultural diversity, global harmony and Antyodaya as the core tenets of Indian culture.
He suggested starting some short term courses in the university to benefit the students from abroad in collaboration with ICCR. Many international students studying in Nalanda who are studying in this university in collaboration with ICCR thanked Dr. Sahasrabuddhe for the support of ICCR. Dr Sahasrabuddhe also announced that an 'ICCR Alumni' would be inaugurated on the occasion of ICCR Foundation Day [9 April] which would work to connect all the international student-communities studying in India.
Presently students from 31 countries are enrolled in Nalanda University. Taking inspiration from the ancient Indian/Asian knowledge-tradition, Nalanda strives to develop the present young generation with an innovative approach and inspire them towards the leadership of the knowledge tradition of the future. In the last four years, Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Under the leadership of Sunaina Singh, several innovative educational concepts are being realized which are laying the foundation stone of this new avatar of the historically renowned Nalanda University.
