(Khabare TV - 9334598481, 9523505786) - Shri Kaushlendra Kumar, Member of Lok Sabha, Nalanda, has budget session to legalize Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various agricultural products of farmers and make SSP a legal right of farmers. During the raising of the matter in the Lok Sabha, what measures are being taken by the government to stop purchases outside the mandis at prices below the minimum support price. In response to this, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar said that, keeping in view the recommendations of the Government of India, Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), 22 of the average average quality (MQ) each year in both crop seasons. Declares Minimum Support Price (MSP) for major agricultural commodities. The government also provides remunerative prices to the farmers through its various schemes.

Procurement is being done on MSP by Central and State agencies under various schemes of the Government. In addition, the announcement of MSP and the overall market for government procurement operations also function, resulting in private procurement at and above MSP for various notified crops. Therefore it is difficult to estimate the exact number of farmers benefiting from the MSP declaration.



The procurement is done through the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and state agencies on price support for paddy and wheat. Under this policy, whatever foodgrains are brought by farmers for sale in the prescribed period and in accordance with the specific specifications set by the government, are purchased by the state government agencies including FCI at the minimum support price (MSP) for the central pool. It aims to work for the National Food Security Act and other welfare schemes of the government, so that subsidized food grains can be supplied to the poor and needy, and a buffer stock of food grains can be created to ensure food security. State governments, in consultation with FCI, purchase different types of nutritious cereals and maize in equal quantities, Which can be used for distribution under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) as well as other welfare schemes (OWS) by the concerned state government. Oilseeds of Fair Average Quality (FAQ), Purchase of MSP from registered farmers under the minimum support price as per the laid down criteria of Pradhan Mantri Annadata Income Protection Campaign (PM-ASHA) in consultation with the State Government concerned when the mandi price of pulses and copra goes below the MSP Is performed. Under PM-ASHA, the State / Union Territory has the option of choosing either the Price Support Scheme (PSS) or the Interpretation Payment Scheme (PDPS) in the given kharif season in respect of specific oilseed crop for the entire state. In addition, the state has the option of abandoning private procurement and stockist scheme (PPSS) on pilot basis in the district or selected APMC of the district, including the participation of private stockists for oilseeds. The government procures cotton and jute at MSP through Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) and Jute Corporation of India (JCI).

NAFED, taking into consideration the availability of other logistics / infrastructure like production, marketable surplus, farmers' convenience and storage and transportation etc., to make procurement effective by government agencies on MSP and to provide maximum benefits of MSP to farmers. Procurement centers are opened by central nodal agencies like FCI and related state government agencies.
