(Khabare TV - 9334598481, 9523505786) -   Nalanda Chamber of Commerce and Industries has requested the Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar to bring electricity rates at par with neighboring states of West Bengal and Jharkhand to accelerate the pace of industrialization of the state. Anil Kumar Akela of the Chamber has requested the State Energy Minister, Energy Secretary, Bihar State Power Holding Company and North South Bihar Power Distribution Company, to speed up industrialization in the state, to bring electricity rates at par with neighboring states of West Bengal and Jharkhand. 



 District President of Nalanda Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Anil Kumar Akela said that the state government has been trying for the last several years or so that industrialization in the state may develop but is not getting success. Because there is a huge difference in the price of electricity in Bihar as compared to the neighboring states, the rate of electricity in DVC area is 3.50 per kg and to match the rate of DVC, West Bengal Electricity Board and Jharkhand Electricity Board sell industrial power as compared to DVC. While the electricity rate for HD consumers in Bihar is around 8.50 per unit, the child entrepreneurs are setting up their units in West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Anil Kumar Akela said that due to higher electricity rates in the state, the cost of production of goods of the entrepreneurs engaged in the manufacturing sector is higher due to which the entrepreneurs here lag behind in competition with neighboring states of West Bengal and Jharkhand. The main reason for the high rate of HD consumers is cross subsidy. 13% of the total electricity is sold to HD consumers and 87% is sold to retail and rural consumers. Consumption is low in HD supply, hence cross subsidies are very high. Once electricity rates compete, there will be industrial development, HD supply will increase and cross subsidy will be reduced.
