Member countries appreciated the multidimensional development of Nalanda University: Ministry of External Affairs hosted the meeting of 17 member countries of Nalanda in Delhi.
Khabre Tv - 9334598481 - Aditya's Report - The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, hosted the meeting of Heads of Missions of 17 member countries of Nalanda University in the past (16 December 2021). This high-level meeting with the diplomats of the member countries was organized by the Division of Policy Planning and Research, Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. Representatives from Cambodia, Laos-PDR, Myanmar, Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Mauritius, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Portugal, Indonesia, China and Singapore were present in the meeting. On behalf of Nalanda University, a delegation of professors and officers led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunaina Singh attended this meeting.
The meeting started with the remarks by Dr. Anupam Ray, Joint Secretary, Policy Planning and Research Division, Ministry of External Affairs. On this occasion, he appreciated the contribution of Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunaina Singh in the progress of Nalanda University. He said that "Nalanda University which till now was only in our thoughts, is now a reality". He reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of External Affairs to extend full support to Nalanda University as a global achievement in future also. Dr Anupam Ray described Nalanda University as "yours and our own university" in front of the diplomats of the member countries and asked for cooperation from them. He described the reconstruction of this university as an unprecedented achievement, where in the last 5 years there has been an increase in the construction of campus from 0.28 percent to 85 percent.
During the meeting, the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor made a detailed presentation of the development works in front of the representatives of the countries and apprised them of the academic architecture of Nalanda University. The Vice Chancellor explained how the university is promoting innovative research with interdisciplinary pedagogy, global PhD program and cafeteria model to create leaders in the knowledge-tradition of the future. The meeting was conducted by Dr. Sumit Seth, Director, Foreign Policy Planning Division, Ministry of External Affairs.
After the Vice Chancellor's address, the Heads of Missions of the member countries present in the meeting appreciated the development work done in Nalanda University and expressed interest in academic cooperation with Nalanda and assured all cooperation in future. The Heads of Missions of the member countries expressed their desire to visit the Nalanda University campus in Rajgir. The Honorable Vice Chancellor invited the Heads of Missions to visit Nalanda. It is worth noting that at present, students from 31 countries are enrolled in Nalanda University. Sharing his experiences, a former Vietnamese student of Nalanda University wrote, “I had many unforgettable experiences during my studies at Nalanda University. I thoroughly enjoyed the high level studies here at Nalanda University with the divine experience of a sacred Buddhist place like Rajgir. As a loving lady, I got full cooperation from the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor and other Nalanda professors and staff members."
