Students of 32 countries celebrated "Azadi's Amrit Mahotsav" at Nalanda University.
Khabre Tv - 9334598481 - Report of Aditya - Cultural programs were organized in Nalanda University yesterday evening as part of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" function series. Students from 32 countries enrolled in the university were part of this cultural programme. The students of Nalanda were exposed to the rich history, culture and achievements of India through this event dedicated to the glorious past of India and the progress made in the country in the last 75 years to commemorate 75 years of independence. The function was organized in the newly constructed auditorium of Nalanda University. The Honorable Vice Chancellor while addressing the gathering said, “India has a continuous knowledge-tradition. This commemoration of independence is also a celebration of the knowledge-tradition that is more than five thousand years old, which gives this country its own unique identity. The whole world today looks towards India with a hope. May the spiritual uniqueness of India and the spirit of coexistence of diversity guide the entire humanity in overcoming the global instability and uncertainty arising in the present context.”
The speech of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor was followed by a presentation by the eminent Bharatnatyam dancer Ms. Sudeepa Ghosh, which was based on the famous Gujarati hymn 'Vaishnav Jan To'. He also gave a dance performance on Dhanashree-tilana, a rhythmic Krishna-lila. After this, the students of various faculties of the University enthralled the audience with their performances. A solo theatrical performance by the student of 'Word Literature' on a poem 'Meri Maa Ki Kokh Majboor Thi' by the eminent Punjabi poet Amrita Pritam awakened the memory of the struggle in pre-independence India in the audience. A classical composition on the Carnatic music style of Swami Thyagaraja in Ahari Raga was presented by a student of the Faculty of Buddhism. A group of Buddhist nuns and monks studying at the university recited a Sanskrit Buddhist chant in Vietnamese style accompanied by traditional musical instruments. The performance of the students also included short-plays on Myanmar folk dance and communal harmony. The audience was mesmerized by the performances from students from Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Bhutan studying at the Faculty of History. The highlight of the program was to bring together students and cultures from 32 countries on one platform. The program ended with the national anthem.
During the program the engineering team of the University through a presentation on 'Net-Zero' highlighted the fact that Nalanda is emerging as one of the largest Net Zero campuses in the world. For the last four years, under the leadership of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, various faculties and research centers of the University are being conceptualized in such a way that there is an integrated development of the present young generation and they can be inspired towards the leadership of the knowledge-tradition of the future. An innovative educational concept is being realized at the University by coordinating the Masters programme, Global Doctorate and various short term programs at the University. With the successive developments in the last few years, the foundation stone of this new avatar of the historically renowned Nalanda University is being developed firmly and systematically.
