Apart from reputed doctors of the city, hundreds of people participated in the rally. World Polio Day was started by the Rotary Club a decade ago on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the father of polio vaccination, Jonas Sak, whose aim was to take a pledge on this day to make the world polio free soon and will continue to work for it.
Apart from the members of Rotary Tathagata, members of Inner Wheel Club, Rotract Club, Intract Club, Morning Walk, Saheli Center also participated in this rally. In this regard, Project Chairman Parameshwar Mahato said that Rotary has made excellent contribution in eradicating polio all over the world and our club has also been working continuously with the administration to make this district polio free. Renowned doctor Dr Arvind Kumar Sinha said that polio was a curse for India, children were most affected by it, so it was worrying for the whole society.
Rotary worked continuously with the society on this, as a result of which the world has become 99.9 percent polio free today. Dr Sunil Kumar said that although India has become free from polio in 2014, but to make it permanent, we need to be alert and that is why on this day Rotary Tathagata is trying to give a message to the society through this rally. The challenge ahead remains. Ashok Kumar, President of Rotary Tathagata said that the program of eradication of polio is attached to our heart because Rotary is engaged in this campaign for the last 40 years. We will continue our efforts to make India polio free in future also.
Club Secretary Joseph TT said that it is true that now the only cases of polio are coming from Pakistan and Afghanistan in the world but Rotary has worked tirelessly around the world to reach here. To get rid of this kind of epidemic, along with the efforts of the government, the whole society has to make efforts, so from today's rally we want to again give this message to the people that whether it is corona or polio, we still need to be alert. .
