After harvesting the wheat crop, crop residue is not to be burnt in the fields by the farmers. This work is adverse to human health, environment and farm production. As a result, it is necessary to stop such irresponsible work and take legal action.
Instructions given to all the District Magistrate / Superintendent of Police for strong and effective monitoring. All district officers of the division will stop the occurrence of crop residue in their respective districts and ensure effective monitoring of this work.
* Instructed to all District Magistrates to establish helpline numbers in their respective districts and take necessary information / complaints after publicizing them in public interest.
* The Divisional Commissioner has requested the general public to inform the District Officer of that district regarding burning of straw.
* He instructed all the District Magistrates to disseminate the facts related to not burning stubble in the public interest among the farmers.

Burning of straw is the loss of soil micronutrients. This leads to deficiency of many other nutrients including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium present in the soil.
Burning crop residue emits many toxic gases including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide which pollutes the air. This has harmful effects on human health.
Burning the straw reduces the yield of the fields. Due to which there is loss in crop and economic loss of farmers.
In addition, burning of stubble creates environmental crisis, global warming problem and food security crisis.
Therefore, efficient management of crop residue is necessary for increasing the yield of the fields, avoiding environmental problems and food security.
