A meeting of the district level task force was called today for the prevention of AES (Acute Encephalitis Syndrome) / JE (Japanese Encephalitis) under the chairmanship of the District Officer.
The disease mainly affects young children. This directed to carry out a massive awareness campaign among the targeted people about the precautions to be taken for rescue. In this campaign, instructions were taken to coordinate action in coordination with the departments of Health, ICDS, Education, Panchayati Rajya, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, PHED etc.
It was instructed to organize a workshop with the district level officials of all the concerned departments. Similarly, at the block level, by organizing a workshop, all concerned officials and personnel were instructed to conduct hands-on training.
It was instructed to carry out mass awareness campaign among the target group people through various means to prevent the disease. In the wake of awareness campaign, emphasis will be laid on information about "what to do" and "what not to do" about prevention of this disease.
For this, an awareness campaign was directed through hand bills, flex banners, newspapers, social media etc. In all the targeted panchayats, people were instructed to convey the right message to the people by miking through promotional vehicles.
The civil surgeon was instructed to ensure adequate availability of all necessary medicines. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of Sadar Hospital was instructed to be kept in ready condition at all times. The PICU was instructed to always ensure the supply of oxygen, etc.
All Panchayats were asked to ensure vehicle tagging so that the needy child could be immediately taken to the nearest health center and unnecessary waste of time could be avoided. Regarding the tagged vehicle, the Panchayat locals were also asked to provide information so that the tagged vehicle can be availed immediately from the local level.
To avoid this disease, it is important that children do not sleep hungry at night. Children must be fed at night. Consuming jaggery / sugar at night is also beneficial for children. It was directed to make people widely aware of such small things.
Deputy Development Commissioner, Civil Surgeon, District Panchayati Rajya Officer, District Education Officer, DPO ICDS, District Animal Husbandry Officer, District Vector Borne Disease Officer and other Health Department officials were present in the meeting.
