(KHABRE TV - 9523505786) - A review meeting of Pre-Flood Preparation and Seven Determinations was convened today in Hardev Bhawan Auditorium under the chairmanship of Minister-cum-Honorable Minister of Rural Works Department Shri Shailesh Kumar, in charge of Nalanda District.
The action taken so far regarding the pre-flood preparation was explained in detail by the District Officer.
He informed that rain measuring instruments are working in all the blocks of the district and rain data is being compiled continuously from June 1.
Out of the 20 blocks of the district, 15 blocks are flood prone. In all these blocks, a list has been prepared by identifying the likely flood affected people. A total of 176 refuge sites have been identified to provide safe havens to the affected people in the event of floods. In view of the transition of Kovid-19, isolation centers are also being arranged for the flood affected people as per the requirement. Buildings have also been identified as isolation centers, where flood affected people with symptoms of Kovid-19 will be housed as and when required.
District officer informed that to deal with the situation of flood disaster, the rate and supplier of all the necessary materials have been determined through tender. The district also has 11,500 polythene sheets available. A team of NDRF has also been made available for the district.
In case of disaster, more vulnerable groups like elderly, sick, pregnant women etc. are also being identified and listed. Separate arrangements will be made for such people in the disaster relief camp in the event of a disaster.
Arrangements have been made for the availability of all essential human medicine and veterinary medicine in the district. For cattle feed, rates and suppliers have also been determined through tender.
The repair of various dams, embankments and roads damaged in last year's floods has been carried out by the concerned department. Disaster control room (telephone no-06112-233168) has been operationalized in the district. Officers and personnel have been deputed in three shifts in the control room.
The Executive Engineer, Flood Control and Water Drainage was informed that about eight lakh sand bags are available for the anti-flood work, which has been stored at various important sites.
The Minister in-charge also received information and suggestions from the MP and MLAs present in the meeting from the point of view of flood disaster management from time to time. The need for getting work done at some places was stated by the public representatives. The Minister in-charge directed to constitute an investigation team with an engineer headed by Deputy Development Commissioner. Based on the information given by the public representatives in the meeting by this investigation team, all the sites will be examined and appropriate action will be taken through the concerned department. The investigation team will also inspect all the anti-flooding works done so far.
Instructions have been given to ensure continuous drainage and cleanliness of the river / channel to ensure that there is no water logging problem in the municipal area.
Every house tap water and pucca street drain scheme was reviewed under seven decisions. In some panchayats, information was not given to the ward implementation committee by the public representative. The minister in-charge held a sub-division meeting on 22, 23 and 24 June and directed to ensure a review of these schemes. In this meeting, a preferred officer and District Panchayati Raj officer from the district level will definitely be involved. All the concerned MLAs will also be invited to the meeting. In this, the plans of each ward of each panchayat will be reviewed. All sub-divisional officers will ensure that no scheme is pending due to non-transfer of funds to the Ward Implementation Committee. Such barriers will have to be removed immediately and action will be taken against the guilty person, officials, personnel.
