KHABRE TV NEWS - All the pump drivers of Nalanda district celebrated the Labor Day by tying black badges on the occasion of Labor Day
Under Public Health Engineering Department All the pump drivers of Nalanda district celebrated the Labor Day by tying black badges on the occasion of Labor Day
On Labor Day, all the pump drivers of the district tied black badges and celebrated Labor Day. In protest against the handing over of water supply centers to contractors under Public Health Engineering Department for 5 years, all the daily wage earners of Nalanda district including Bihar state celebrated social distancing and protested against privatization and celebrated black labor day.
On this occasion, Nalanda District President of Pump Drivers Association Madhusudan Sharma said that pump drivers from all over the state of Bihar have been working for the last five days by tying a black badge in their hands and pumping challans. He said that he will continue to work with indefinite black badges until the government withdraws the decision of privatization.
He said that pump drivers have been working at various water supply centers for the last 7 to 10 years which are paid on daily wages. All pump drivers are also trained as they have been operating the pump for many years. The department has taken advantage of the lock down by handing the contractors over to the water supply centers for 5 years. He said that water supply service is a very important service, even in the global epidemic, all the pump drivers are supplying water by risking their lives every day.
They are kept on duty for 6 months of every year and then removed. So that is not regular. Even we are owed salary for last 10 to 12 months. On demand, the department paid only 1 month in rural areas. Which caused all the pump drivers to go to starvation. Despite this, they are honestly supplying water to the people. Despite this, the officials of the department have issued orders to hand over the operations of the water supply centers to the contractors for exploiting the pump drivers for the benefit of the contractors.
In such a situation, the question arises that on one side there is this message of Prime Minister Modi ji and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ji, no one should be removed from the job, while his officials are bent on showing his message to be false.
